the last few months

i'm back! i know. i can hardly believe it myself. i think my months of silence probably means no one really reads this thing anymore anyway, but at least i can try. so where exactly does one start when it's been so long? i gave the brief lowdown last time, but it's impossible to sum up the last 6 months. here are some highlights though:

my sister and her partner adopted a beautiful baby girl in february. her name is Gracie and needless to say, i am totally in love with her.

and so is her big brother!

it turns out i became an aunt twice in one week. a few days after gracie was adopted, i found out that my brother and his wife are expecting a baby girl in spetember. so it's baby girls galore in my family right now which is a good thing since i am very broody at the moment.
i will have to settle for getting my baby fixes elsewhere as i am beginning grad school in september. i will be taking 2 classes (2/3 time) and working full time, so i don't see how a baby would fit in. let me know if you have any ideas aside from getting rid of my hubby and marrying a millionaire.

jon and i celebrated our 2nd anniversary in february. we went out to western massachusetts and stayed over night at this very cool hotel this very cool that i would highly recommend to everyone. we went to the Mass MOCA, and took a long hike through the mountains amidst perfecly white snow, warmed by a luckily mild winter sunshine. we managed to get a soak in the outdoor jacuzzi, followed by a lie down in a sage scented sauna, and then onto a cozy little restaurant for some terrifically delish food. oh, how i wish we were back there now.....

in march we finally turned our attention to some full on apartment hunting and here are some photos of our happy little abode. wow, it is seriously lovely to have our own home again after over 2 years of sharing :)

we moved in april and spent most of the month buying things, decorating and unpacking. i am totally obsesseed with birds and plants now! Boston feels living in the country side compared to London and New York. all we got there were weeds and fat pigeons.

last month we went back to the UK to visit. i cannot believe it had been almost 9 months since we moved back here. it was the first real vacation i've had in a long time and i spent it with family and friends taking long walks in the hills of kent, eating lots of cadbury's, and sleeping lusciously long hours every night, (with a few afternoon naps thrown in). i realized it is a lot more relaxing to take a vacation when you have something to go back to, i.e. a home and a job ;)

and that brings us to June...last weekend was Jon's birthday and we went to the Cape. beautiful weather, good company, deliciously fresh fish, gorgeous beaches and scenery....coming home was painful on Sunday evening and coming in to work on Monday was like getting a shot at the doctor's over and over all day long. 2 days is just not long enough...but we still had a lovely time :)
